There are hundreds of parks located across the city. This is a list of the biggest and most popular ones. No matter which neighbourhood of the city you are located in, you will find a park within walking distance.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park
The Sanjay Gandhi National Park is located in the north of Bombay. Measuring over 25000 acres (103 square kilometers), it is the largest park in the city. The park is home to a wide variety of plants, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, butterflies and insects. It was designated as a National Park in 1983. There are several treks and trails within the park. The 2400 year old Kanheri Caves, Vihar Lake and Tulsi Lake also lie within the park.

Maharashtra Nature Park
The Maharashtra Nature Park located in Dharavi measures over 37 acres. This plot of land was a garbage dump 40 years ago. The park was created with the joint efforts of nature loving citizens, the Bombay Municipal Corporation and World Wide Fund for Nature. Today the park is a symbol of sustained efforts and is home to a variety of plants, reptiles and birds.

Shivaji Park
Shivaji Park is a 28 acre park and sports complex located on Veer Savarkar Marg. It is the largest park in Central Bombay and is considered to be the center of cricket in Bombay. Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw and many others, all played and practiced here before going on to join the Indian Cricket team.
Priyadarshini Park
Priyadarshini Park is a 20 acre park and sports complex located on Nepean Sea Road. This plot of land was a garbage dump before nature loving citizens and the Bombay Municipal Corporation transformed it into a beautiful seaside park.
